Learn From the Ant

I believe God can speak through anyone or teach us a lesson in anything. Often times God uses the simplest things to teach us and help us become better or to bring us closer to our destiny.  The bible says in 1 Corinthians that “…God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” God’s strategy is never the world’s method. His ways are not our ways, and his thoughts are all his own.

I named this post “Learn From the Ant”, because this is the bible verse that popped in my head after I had a very eye-opening conversation with one of the kids I serve. We were completing a project and while doing so we were having a conversation about our goals and passions. I really wanted to plant a seed of hope and encouragement into this young boys life, not knowing that God had a plan to bless me. He was so young, it never crossed my mind that maybe he could teach me anything. He began to tell me about how he wants to join the army one day, because he knows it will be good for him, but he’s afraid to die. So we talked about that and y’all I really thought I was doing something. I was thinking of everything I could to encourage him in that moment and to expose him to some type of positivity.

Then the conversation turned into what I wanted to do, and what I believed to be my passions. I went on and on about how I love to write and showed him my blog. I said ” I would love to write a book one day!” He asked me, “Well, what books are you reading?” Instantly, I felt exposed. I had nothing. I hadn’t read a book in full in years. I had began several and never finished them. I knew it was the Holy Spirit convicting me, because I felt completely exposed. This little boy, in 6 words, basically said to me, ” I hear your vision, but what are you doing now to prepare you for then?”

Y’all all I could say was, “Wow. That is a really great question. I’m not reading anything at the moment.” and all he said was “Hmph.” God used this little boy to read me like a magazine and to push me closer to my destiny.  So I say, stay open to the voice of God. The bible says in Proverbs 6:6, “Take a lesson from the ants…Learn from their ways and become wise! How can we as humans learn from an ant? How is an ant wise? God uses the smallest things to teach us our biggest lessons. Stay open to his voice, He wants to help!

That’s so good sis! Being prepared both in season and out of season is the key. That’s what I love about children. They’re actually very wise beings, along with the innocence that they carry that can be very convicting. Like you said though, we have to be open to hearing what God has to say no matter the medium he decides to use.❤️
